Grapes activate genes
Grapes contain a variety of naturally occurring compounds, including polyphenols and resveratrol, that have been studied for their potential effects on cellular signaling and gene expression. Research suggests that these compounds may influence pathways involved in inflammation, cell growth, metabolism, and cellular protection.
Resveratrol, which is found particularly in grape skins, has been investigated for its ability to affect the activity and expression of certain genes and signaling pathways. Laboratory studies have shown that resveratrol can influence genes involved in cell-cycle regulation, cellular stress responses, inflammation, and programmed cell death.
Research involving grape powder has also observed changes in the expression of selected genes associated with the Wnt signaling pathway in normal colon tissue. However, these findings do not establish that eating grapes can prevent or treat cancer.
